The Township of Perth East is seeking applications for two permanent full-time positions of Municipal Planner. These positions will provide a wide range of land use planning related services to the local Municipalities of North Perth, West Perth, Perth South and Perth East.
This opportunity will appeal to motivated, cooperative individuals who are committed to working as a team to meet the planning needs of the Municipalities. Responsibilities would include delivery of professional planning advice to various stakeholders, pre-consultation, reviewing and processing planning applications and research and reporting on the implications of broad policy, bylaws and legislation changes that may affect the local municipalities of Perth County.
The positions report to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of Perth East, in collaboration with the CAOs or designate of the above Municipalities through a Planning Shared Services Agreement.
You possess a degree in a planning discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience and hold a Registered Professional Planner designation. The ideal candidates will have five (5) years municipal planning experience with a combination of rural and urban planning preferred. Technical knowledge in a range of related areas and in-depth knowledge of Planning principles and practices is essential to the success of these positions.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a commitment to quality customer service and strong computer skills are required. Continuing education is required through courses, seminars, workshops and selected reading to stay current. An unrestricted valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle are a requirement for this position. Attendance at evening meeting as needed.
Compensation includes a comprehensive benefit package with a pay range of $59,168 to $72,636 based upon a thirty-five (35) hour workweek.
